Not only is Donna Karan a true asset to American fashion and classic style, but she's also a very smart business woman. I had the pleasure of meeting her many many years ago while in my senior year at The High School of Fashion Industries, and I've followed her work and business logic all throughout college. Being a designer is not just about drawing pretty pictures and sewing frilly clothes people - there is also a technical aspect to it, in which knowing the business and how to operate in this 'eat your child' industry will inevitably keep you ahead of the rest. After diggin and diggin -I was able to find this pic of us...I remember walking up to her and before I even got an introduction out - she said "wow- look at those boobs!" I think she was a lil tipsy... but instead of being offended or taken back by the fact that Donna Karan just made such a comment - I was even more inspired that she kept it real! Love ya Donna! :)

There is a big gulp in my throat so I don't even know what to say about some of this footage...But I looooove this man. It's innovation such as this that keeps me losing sleep at night!! Alexander McQueen is my favorite designer btw!!!

Alexander McQueen is one of my favorite designers. I'm not even mad at him for the spectacle of his Fall 09 collection. He's controversial, an amazing tailor, and has a vivid imagination when it comes to attention to detail. His work always gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling on the inside, as it reminds me I do what I do for a reason.











"Alexander McQueen may be the last designer standing who is brave or foolhardy enough to present a collection that is an unadulterated piece of hard and ballsy showmanship. The heated arguments that broke out afterward were testament to that. There were those who found his picture of women with sex-doll lips and sometimes painfully theatrical costumes ugly and misogynistic. Others—mainly young spectators who haven't been thrilled by the season's many sensible pitches to middle-aged working women—were energized by the sheer spectacle, as well as the couture-level drama in the execution of the clothes. Nevertheless, however frustrated McQueen may be by the state of commercial fashion, he was not really in absurdist rip-it-up mode. BAD BOY BAD BOY, WHATCHA GONNA DO >>> JEREMY SCOTT

Jeremy Scott is a Missouri-born fashion designer. He attended the Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY for fashion design. Jeremy is best known for his outrageous and sometimes comical designs. After showing in Paris for several years in order to establish his name, he returned to the United States. His unique creations have been worn by celebrities including Paris Hilton, Kanye West[1], Lindsay Lohan, Björk, Robyn, Cameron Diaz, Christina Aguilera, Kylie Minogue, Madonna and his good friend Cory Kennedy. His designs incorporate unconventional looks, including one-legged pants. Jeremy was named number 31 in the Face’s ‘Most Important People in Fashion’ issue, ranking higher than Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney. He is also stylist for the band Fischerspooner. VIVIENNE WESTWOOD SPRING 09 >>> BUTCH DIVA'S PICKS

"This is a designer who wears a headband with the anti-consumerist message "branded" scrolled across it, the one who sends out a new muckraking slogan T-shirt each season. This time it read: "We need an estimated $30 billion per year to save the rain forest." That message inspired the show's "Do It Yourself" conservation theme. Call it bedsheet couture: Everything from Westwood's familiar asymmetrically wrapped-and-bustled dresses to the capes flung across one shoulder came in frayed fabrics that looked like they could in previous lives have been tablecloths, drapes, or shower curtains.Ghetto-fabulous dhoti pants exposed the crotches of models' boxer shorts. Girls wore headscarves as knickers. And there's not much of a retail future in a clear plastic jacket and ball skirt (embroidered in a more traditionally ball skirt-ish striped fabric)—although it undeniably had a certain undone charm. ALEXANDER McQUEEN SPRING 09' >>> THANK THE LORD!

I'm not accustomed to seeing prints and patterns on McQueen's runway but he successfully managed to bring a tear to my eye with these printed illusions. "McQueen's couture sensibilities are breathtaking in close-up, where the detail of flowers and birds becomes visible in lace underlayers and then echoed in lace ankle-wrappings incorporated in shoes. He also gave himself over to a long passage of bright, multicolored allover prints, engineered to fit around jackets, leggings, and cocoon dresses—new on the Paris runway, but also part of general trend emanating from London's young designers. Even as the show moved into evening and the part that symbolized the negative impact of twenty-first-century evolution, the black crystal-encrusted dresses and bodysuits never quite descended into melodrama. McQueen said he "doesn't want to preach" about such a serious subject. More likely, he wants to sell next Spring, and this collection, with its color, detail, and eased-up tailoring, looks likely to be one of his most commercially viable."- Style.com
