THE FOOT WORK.

Out + about in the market the other day looking for fun new prints to sample this Spring/Summer. This go round, I also linked with Ouigi, the bearded man of The Brooklyn Circus (lol), to introduce him to a few of my domestic production and fabric connects. Its always good to spend time with design peers, as it allows the opportunity to brainstorm and build further...ahhh - the development process is bittersweet. :)

BUTCH DIVA >>> THE BIGGER PICTURE

The wheels in my head go round and round, round and round, round and round...I spent some nights out and about last week starting my social tour and spreading the news of my vision and my plans to my fellow industry peers and it always feels great to have your dreams embraced and your thought process understood. For the next 6 months you'll be able to get a taste of BUTCH DIVA at local bklyn sample sales, for example at up in coming vendor hot spots "BROOKLYN FLEA" and "HABANA OUTPOST". Also working on getting a few key looks into "PIECES OF BKLYN". Plus shops in Manhattan include Patricia Field and Lounge Soho. Be sure to stay tuned for all the details on availability...

The bigger picture however is get this grind in motion so I can make my journey back to Trinidad in January and be able to stay 6 months to establish business ventures there. A "lounge boutique" to be more specific. The clientele is in place but the resources are not, and that's where I come in. To present style and trends to these females in a way that no one has for them yet. From what I've seen while there, they don't have the same fashion resources we have but it was crystal clear how bad they yearned for it.

So the nxt 6 months is all about the hustle and grind to get me where I want to be. As long as the passion and will to succeed remains, the work to get it done is a pleasure.

A WORK IN PROGRESS...

Where have I been you may be wondering...I'm here in spirit but physically in full development mode focusing on a million things at once with only one brain and one body. As I always say, if it were that easy, everybody would be doing it! Starting and maintaining a business requires you to be on your toes at all times. I always make surely I'm observing, whether it be trends, peer brands, marketing strategies, etc. I'm currently juggling several other consultant projects, preparing for sample sale next week...stay tuned for details...and researching and developing ideas for BUTCH DIVA comic book coming this summer. In the mist of that, the blog must be maintained, the emails must be answered, and the follow ups must be executed. Without sounding like I'm making excuses, I will say this is a one-woman operated show, and there are never enough hours in the day to get it all done! I thought this very general and basic cycle guide could explain the technicalities of my point further, in addition to the things that need to be considered and analyzed when starting and conducting business...

'BUTCH DIVA COMIC BOOK' DEVELOPMENT...

...So I'm pleased to finally be able to share some sneak peaks with you towards the BUTCH DIVA comic book series. I've been brainstorming different ways to handle the next photo shoot and marketing the brand to the public and investors, and a BUTCH DIVA comic book turned out to be my solution. Comic books have always been a user friendly type of presentation and since I always try to think out the box, I figured this would allow me to express some of my fashion political views while still presenting the clothes in a unique way...please, I beg of you, stay tuned for more as this is sure to be one of the most exciting BUTCH DIVA projects I've worked on thus far. For now, I'm researching different layouts, color inspiration, and themes...ENJOY!!!

OVERWHELMINGLY MOTIVATED TO INSPIRE...

...10 minutes to 1am and I'm aware that my body is tired, but my mind is racing and sleep is the last thing on my radar. Ever since coming back from Trinidad, I've been on a whirlwind of emotions, brain spazzems, epiphanies, and revelations. All concerning me...and the woman I want to be, and the future and empire I want to build. You ever see something so crystal clear that it almost makes you giggle a lil' bit?? Well I'm seeing something right now folks...and I don't quite want to give it all up yet but trust me when I tell ya, you will be proud and down for the cause! "Where there's a will there's a way", is how I like to look at it sometimes, and I'm surely willing to see this idea out to the end... I'm on this new kick where no matter how tired I actually am and how much "I don't feel like it"...I have to push myself to accomplish at the very least three goals a day related to bringing me closer to my goals in life. Imagine that!! Imagine how a mentality such as that, can bring so much joy and purpose to your agenda. It could range from the process of just doing things to educate myself on certain topics, fashion trends, business practices, etc. to blogging, research on the Internet, to organizing my workspace, to spreading the word about the mission...etc etc. But you get the hint right!

FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS W/ THE BROOKLYN CIRCUS...

Now that some of the chaos of the holidays has smoothed over, I was finally able to sit and talk again with the team over @ The BKc. They have lots of great endeavors on their current agenda. I'm proud to announce they have put their faith in me to manage their Product Development and Production f/t going forward. In addition, they have high hopes for the launch of their BKc Women's Collection, and I get to make significant contributions to that process as well. Exciting!!!
Fact of the matter is there aren't many women on that team...one in Sales, and that's about it - BKc is primarily a men's line, yet as they continue to grow and brand their identity, it's refreshing to learn of their confidence in me and my abilities. Stay tuned for the experience...!

If only there were enough hours in the day to get all the work done...let alone the helping hands. But rest assured my lovelies, it's alllll a working progress.
