BUTCH DIVA INSPIRATION NO BRAINER >>> GRACE JONES

But of course, Grace Jones is an inspiration to BUTCH DIVA. Her bold image is the epitome of what BUTCH DIVA stands for. Bold, beautiful, androgynous, and yet still in touch with her femininity and sexuality.

Read more of the life and accomplishments of Grace here, as she is not only a fashion icon, but a motivating force to women everywhere to stand up and stand out!

Just a lil something extra to tantalize your senses...

HEY "DOLLFACE"...

IF NOT BUTCH DIVA >>> THEN I'D PUT ON MY DANCING SHOES...

...I always believed that if there were anything else I'd put my energy and passion into other than design, it would be dancing. Not including a pole! But modern dance, where I could still express myself creativly and be obligated to the gym and a strict diet! Have I ever had any training? - No. Have I pursued it at all even part-time? - Not particularly {More like one drunken night every few months- ha!} But I just always day dreamed about me center stage in a weightless cotton spandex slip performing a powerful solo to a beat that starts slow and mellow and then breaks out into something sick and bjork-ish funky - and then I blow the crowd away with my flexibility... Call me crazy. But that's what it is.

DESIGNER PROFILE >>> GARETH PUGH

In an age where many of the boundary-pushing and innovative design houses have toned down and become more literal, or shifted focus to a particular trademark, 26-year-old Gareth Pugh sticks out like a sore thumb, in the best of ways.

Native to the UK, Pugh got his start at an early age, doing costume design for the English National Youth Theatre. As he progressed and graduated from the esteemed Central Saint Martins for fashion design, his work became increasingly popular on a local level. He was highlighted early on by forward-thinking fashion magazine 'Dazed and Confused' for his stand-out designs, and this helped expose him to a wider audience. His first solo showing was at London Fashion Week for the Fall/Winter 2006 collections and there has been enormous buzz ever since. Be it admiration for his craft, or people criticizing his work as being unwearable, the interest is undeniable.

He challenges convention by literally taking the silhouette to new heights with his extravagant cuts and shapes. By using bold geometrics, he creates multi-dimensional clothing. Not only does he shift the perception of the silhouette, but many of his garments actually are wearable sculptures.
