Ever since researching more of Miss Van's work a few weeks ago, I've become an immediate fan and admirer. If I had to frame some of her pieces and hang them in my office, these would be just a few of my top picks. Stay tuned for more...

How many of you either dreamed of being Jessica Rabbit or at least getting 2 mins alone with her??? I know I sure nuff did! Not only did I grow up on Roger Rabbit, but I definitely had lasting impressions of Jessica...I was day dreaming about what inspired me as a kid and she was in the top imagery, and now that I'm a big girl, I can see why! She was fieeerrrce! She used what she had to get what she wanted and kept everybody drooling for more! Ahhhhh Jessica Rabbit...seductress icon, my childhood fav, and a BUTCH DIVA inspiration!
Now that some of the chaos of the holidays has smoothed over, I was finally able to sit and talk again with the team over @ The BKc. They have lots of great endeavors on their current agenda. I'm proud to announce they have put their faith in me to manage their Product Development and Production f/t going forward. In addition, they have high hopes for the launch of their BKc Women's Collection, and I get to make significant contributions to that process as well. Exciting!!!
Fact of the matter is there aren't many women on that team...one in Sales, and that's about it - BKc is primarily a men's line, yet as they continue to grow and brand their identity, it's refreshing to learn of their confidence in me and my abilities. Stay tuned for the experience...!

While surfing the web a few weeks ago, I first came across one of Miss Van's pieces and posted it as inspiration, at the time however I didn't know who she was or what she stood for and posted her work as "title and artist unknown". only to find a comment the next morning posted by one of my readers putting me on to a link in which I was able to familiarize myself. Needless to say, I took the time to look up more of her work and I've been smitten ever since!!!
Miss Van is one of the most prominent and recognizable painters from the Toulouse graffiti scene, not to mention one of the best female street artists worldwide. Her sassy, fluid ladies with attitude have an expressive, painterly edge that sets her apart from typical graffiti style. Her works, usually exclusively of women - are all about flirtation, dreams and the body. She has exhibited in galleries in Paris, New York and across Europe.
2007 was a year of many highs and many lows. I tend to pride myself on my independence and secure personality, but I can assure you this doesn't mean things don't get under my skin and get be down. I'm extremely proud of the many obstacles I've been able to over come and grateful for the the time to be alone in my thoughts and analyze what it is I want and need for me and my future; whether it be with family, friends, my career, or love. I'm finally at a place where I feel comfortable enough with the mistakes I've made because I notice how I've grown from them. There was a time I really wanted love and respect and was wondering why I didn't have it and couldn't find it. People are so quick to tell you to love yourself and not to worry about every one else...and I brushed that cliche off for quite awhile - but when it hit - it hit hard!!! It made perfectly good sense, I would never even understand how to accept or embrace genuine respect and love if I didn't have it for myself first and foremost. So as I continue on my journey in achieving success and happiness, I wanted to share that BUTCH DIVA is by far one of my greatest accomplishments! When all else fails, I've been able to turn to all the potential of this business and divert my energy into being creative and productive, and the feeling of completion is overwhelming. All the attention and positive feedback is surely what keeps me going at it, as BUTCH DIVA is also my personal passion project and outlet. When I decided to take a few months off recently just so I could catch up with myself and gather a clear head about what I was doing and where I was going, it was one of the best decisions I could have made for myself. I've had time to take care of myself, time to think, time to set up my work space, and time to grow into a better woman.
Thank you for sharing this time with me...
