BUTCH DIVA x LOYAL CUSTOMERS.

So in my efforts to catch up on BUTCH DIVA press, yesterday I came across this blog post from back in February, in which they interviewed a recent client of mine - Charlie. They came at her with this "RDM: I personally would call you a very fashionable and attractive young lady, what are some Definitely Amazing clothing lines you support?"

And she responded with:
"Butch Diva, I met her over the summer @ Frank White, here's this cute girl and I was like " I love your dress where did you get it from, did you get It from American Apparel?" and she was like "No, Don't you know who I am?". Since I'm so new to the scene I was like "No" to which she replied "I'm Butch Diva!". She did this fashion show @ Frank White and she dressed me in this Silver one piece jumper, and I must say it had everyone salivating. So I guess you can say I like dedicated and different designers who don't let money stop them because I'm sure it gets hard but they persevere and I can learn from that and respect that. These designers are geniuses. I'm a style a chameleon so I like it all."

Feel free to see the rest of that interview here. Thanks Charlie!! You know I got your best interest at heart! See you soon!

AND THIS IS WHY.

Just when I thought my brain was on inspiration overload today, I reminded myself - you can never be TOO inspired!

She wore Citizens of Humanity Avedon Skinny Leg Jeans with a simple white tank and an Alexander Wang Denim Leather Motorcycle Jacket finished with a cherry on top! I BE WORKING ON THE WEEKENDS.

The ability to multi-task is soooooo mandatory in this business. Here I am trying to stay focused on developments for Spring 2010, but getting just a lil distracted with all the requests for color, fun prints, and custom pieces for this spring/summer 09! So do I miss out on the opportunity to accomodate and fill immediate demands for current trends, i.e leggings, jumpsuits, t-shirt dresses, hi-waisted pencil skirts, sweet-heart pull ups... OR do I stay focused on the development for next year?? Helloooo - I DO BOTH!!! Like duhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I DIGS THESE.

Just a few select pieces I stumbled upon while browsing Urban Outfitters online. When I say select - boy do I mean it. So hard to find originality these days...which is why I particularly like the "I love New Shit" tee, the skirt below is cute too...oh and I like the shape of the belt. But shop on your own time here.

AND I HEARD EM' SAY...

I've already taken the time to answer all of these supporters, but now I thought I'd share some of their feedback with you. :)

Ms. Rhodes,
My name is Mariam and I was wondering if you had an internship opportunity open for communications for the summer. I'm currently a student in NY majoring in Psychology with a minor in media. My goal is to use my knowledge of people to be more effective in targeting buyers and spreading information about the future companies that would potentially employ me. I would be willing to maintain any social media you have, answer e-mails, keep in contact with clients, promote events, etc. Thank you for your time and just want to say, I love what you do!
Mariam

I stumbled upon your blog yesterday, and instantly fell in love, lol. So much so that I sat and proceeded to go through all previous post in just one day! While going through your posts I saw more than a few for interns, so I decided to shoot you an email in case you were still looking. I don't have any pattern making experience, but I do have a tad bit of sewing experience which will soon expand due to my interest and help of aunts and a grandmother who are skilled. This is something I really want to do, and am determined to do so which is why your blog really hit home for me.
Theresa

I am a recent fashion graduate who has been actively looking for a stylist to assist for several months. I realize that you may get a few emails from girls similar to myself telling you similar things. I also realized that styling is 60% contacts and 40% creativity, hard work, passion, patience, and personality. Lets just say I have my 40% covered. I am a extremely driven, ambitious, creative thinker who cant see herself doing anything else as a career. I am not expected to have a opportunity handed to me nor would I want that. I have a relentless work ethic and am ready to work as hard as necessary. My background is primarily in design and visual merchandising, however I have done some assisting sporadically. I hardly expect an invitation to immediately attend a shoot, rather someone to instruct, inform and nurture an emerging talent. Any opportunity or information you could offered would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. - Nieci Thomas

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT + FEEDBACK.
NOW THAT I'VE GOT YOUR ATTN > STAY TUNED IN! :)

I'M SO HUNG UP...

Hung Up - Madonna - So I knew I loved this video and song but I was just reminded that I reallllllllly loved it when I actually saw it again, and took a minute to watch the behind the scenes footage making it. The energy, the free-styles, the artistic direction, the wardrobe styling, Madonna agreeing to have Crump dancers in her video! I mean really! I'm like - hell yeahhhh!!! and shaking my ass in the mirror all over the studio! LOL And then of course back to work :))

BEHIND THE SCENES >>> SHOOTING BUTCH DIVA PIECES.

Nothing like a hard days work! But then again, when you're doing what you love, it never quite feels like "work". :)
