'BUTCH DIVA COMIC BOOK' DEVELOPMENT...
...So I'm pleased to finally be able to share some sneak peaks with you towards the BUTCH DIVA comic book series. I've been brainstorming different ways to handle the next photo shoot and marketing the brand to the public and investors, and a BUTCH DIVA comic book turned out to be my solution. Comic books have always been a user friendly type of presentation and since I always try to think out the box, I figured this would allow me to express some of my fashion political views while still presenting the clothes in a unique way...please, I beg of you, stay tuned for more as this is sure to be one of the most exciting BUTCH DIVA projects I've worked on thus far. For now, I'm researching different layouts, color inspiration, and themes...ENJOY!!!

PRADA MAKES LOVE TO MY IMAGINATION...
I have a confession... I seriously get off on this type of innovation and thinking outta the box. Prada goes above and beyond for their Spring/Summer 2008 marketing campaign, and it left me weak in the knees and breathless - as I suppose real love does sometimes!!! UuggGGghhH{in a good way}!!! Enjoy!

"If you don't back it up with performance and hard work, talking doesn't mean a thing." - Michael Jordon
Bright and sunny on this Saturday morning in Bedsty...I was up until 3am prepping my piles to organize for today, as I'm in full force organization mode over here! I feel like once I have a solid grip on having my systems and procedures in place, I will feel more comfortable and at ease conducting business. There were many little projects I let pile up in hopes of hiring an assistant, but I have yet to find the best candidate. I slept in a lil late today but once I'm up - I'm up!! and ready to conquer! So I'm organizing all these stacks on my desk and making sure to glance back at the sample table every now and then to remind myself of what's also waiting for me there, and as I turned to the left of me towards my bookshelf, my glance stopped at Michael's Jordon's book, "I Can't Accept Not Trying', in which he shares the rules he has lived and achieved by. It's a small little book that holds a whole lot of inspiration. These little epiphanies throughout the day are so refreshing! Back to work...

CAN'T BUST THEIR BUBBLE!!!
Apparently balloons are fashionable now...but then again fashion is suppose to be what you make it right? I would never expect someone wearing balloons at a cocktail party to be taken seriously, but ya gotta respect the effort and innovation here. Inspiration is everything!
Thanks to mom dukes for sharing this with me...

ALEXANDER McQUEEN TAKES MY BREATH AWAY>>>FALL 08'
I've been an admirer of Alexander McQueen's innovation in structure, tailoring techniques, and conceptual thinking since my student years at F.I.T, but it hasn't been until now that I've seen his collection and literally felt a gulp in my throat. overwhelmed with the delicate construction and his attention to detail- he continues to inspire me, and so I share it with you...

BUTCH DIVA hits the Trini streets...
M.I.A. for Marc Jacobs...
...Yes - I think the Marc Jacobs new ad campaign is aesthetically cool to the eye, in which it features celebs such as M.I.A seen above, and Victoria Beckham a.k.a Posh...but ask yourself for a sec, how completely different are these two people? M.I.A vs. Posh?? When branding and marketing yourself, you're suppose to keep a consistent image in which your customer can relate to. Granted, Marc Jacobs is such a universal and well known designer name that he can afford to reach out to celebrities to be the face of his brand and it doesn't matter how total opposite one is from the next, his only point is to prove he can get them...
but No - I don't particularly agree with the marketing scheme no matter how cool of a tear sheet it makes. The fashion Industry is totally losing all sense of being different and being individual. There are no longer models with a different look you've never seen, that have been personally scouted to appeal to the customer, its all about which celeb is gonna model in the next campaign...and how do we relate to celebs?? They can wear whatever they want!
Do you or don't you want to feel that personal attention when spending your money on something?? Feedback welcome...

GAMMA RAYS >>> I DONT WANNA BE ALONE TONIGHT!
Lately I've been craving a glimpse of Spike's Lee's School Daze, and it was The Gamme Rays I couldn't get out of my head. This is just one of the movies I grew up on and was inspired by...I mean seriously, I wan't to be Tisha Campbell and Jasmine Guy here. Now that I've come across the clip, I feel better. It was almost like having a craving or taste for something, and after sinking your teeth into that first bite, you're good.
ONE WOMAN BAND...
...so as this was my first Trinidad carnival experience, I wasn't fully aware of all the specifics in the tradition. Just when I thought I had done my research in constructing a costume to be a part of the festivities, I failed to realize that traditionally you actually have to be a part of a band in order to parade around in costume. When I first arrived, I was so exciting about telling family I made a costume, and when I did, they were like "oh yeah- and what band are you playing with???", and I was like "huh???" and they were like "yeah you have to be in a band to wear a costume...", and I was like "Oh no!" and they were like "ahhh ha ha ha ha ha!!!" So I was the laughing stock for a few days but in the end, they loved it! And they appreciated my efforts and a great time was had by all! Stay tuned for more from Trinidad Carnival 08...
